FAMILY IN TOWN

My family, all of them, came to visit over the past two weeks!

First Elise visited from Champaign over Memorial Day weekend.  We had sushi, an enormous mocaljete of molten cheese in a tomato sauce, vegetarian fare from Green, strolled the museum stretch of the Riverwalk, and hung out in our pjs watching the excellent documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi (it's great, and you can stream it on Netflix).

Then my mom and dad drove down, and dad flew back the next day - but not before I fed them turkey tacos for the third time (ATK, por supuesto)  I need a new go-to, but I don't think it gets much better than hard tacos with shredded iceberg lettuce, a dollop of sour cream, and fat slices of avocado.

Robin arrived from Seattle on Thursday.  I took Friday off and we went to Costco (por supuesto) for a re-up on wipes, diapers, and freezer goods.  Friday night the babysitting duo took care of Clementine while Luke and I went to Austin for a long-awaited concert: Avett Brothers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Dawes.

The venue was in the middle of the Formula One racetrack.  TX sunset:

Unbeknownst to us the '6:30' on the ticket referred to the start of the concert, not the opening of the venue, so when we arrived at 7:15, WE HAD MISSED DAWES.  Huge disappointment but a rockin' time was had at the rest of the concert.

By Sunday morning all of our guests had departed, and we headed to the south-of-downtown stretch of the Riverwalk for brunch and a stroll.  Had to collect myself a bit because it was so wonderful having everyone around, and I was reminded of how much I miss my family.

  2. What a great post. Love the pictures of Luke holding C on the couch and you holding her in her polka-dot outfit. It looks like she is smiling and laughing a lot - can't wait to see/hear that! Love you.
